An opportunity exists for an experienced and detail-focused Payroll Officer to join a supportive and values-driven organisation. This role is central to ensuring that a workforce of approximately 200 employees is paid accurately, on time, and in accordance with all legislative and industrial requirements. You will join a collaborative team environment where professionalism, integrity, and service to the community are highly valued.

About your next role

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for the end-to-end payroll function, including:

  • Managing payroll processing for approximately 200 staff across multiple employment types and awards
  • Ensuring compliance with Fair Work, relevant state/territory legislation, superannuation requirements, and internal policies
  • Processing new starters, variations, terminations, and redundancies
  • Maintaining accurate records for superannuation, payroll tax, workers' compensation, and leave entitlements
  • Responding to payroll queries with professionalism, confidentiality, and a strong customer service focus
  • Supporting month end processes, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of payroll systems, controls, and processes

What you will need to bring

  • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll for a medium sized organisation (200+ staff)
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards, and Fair Work requirements
  • Proficiency with payroll systems and intermediate Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to confidentiality
  • A proactive, solutions focused approach and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain)
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Experience in a high-volume payroll environment
  • Commitment to a childsafe culture and adherence to relevant safeguarding standards
