An opportunity exists for an experienced and detail-focused Payroll Officer to join a supportive and values-driven organisation. This role is central to ensuring that a workforce of approximately 200 employees is paid accurately, on time, and in accordance with all legislative and industrial requirements. About your next role
The Payroll Officer will be responsible for the end-to-end payroll function, including:
- Managing payroll processing for approximately 200 staff across multiple employment types and awards
- Ensuring compliance with Fair Work, relevant state/territory legislation, superannuation requirements, and internal policies
- Processing new starters, variations, terminations, and redundancies
- Maintaining accurate records for superannuation, payroll tax, workers' compensation, and leave entitlements
- Responding to payroll queries with professionalism, confidentiality, and a strong customer service focus
- Supporting month end processes, reconciliations, and reporting
- Contributing to continuous improvement of payroll systems, controls, and processes
What you will need to bring
- Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll for a medium sized organisation (200+ staff)
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards, and Fair Work requirements
- Proficiency with payroll systems and intermediate Excel skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to confidentiality
- A proactive, solutions focused approach and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team
Mandatory Requirements
- Current Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain)
- Full Australian working rights
- Experience in a high-volume payroll environment
- Commitment to a childsafe culture and adherence to relevant safeguarding standards
